Common questions
Do we need to be any good at golf?
Better if you’re not. Whoever has the worst hole draws an extra card, so the person losing is always the best armed. A first-timer and a single-figure handicap can play the same round and both have a chance.
Can we play it with kids?
That’s one of the reasons it exists. There’s no swearing and nothing crude anywhere in the deck, the instructions are printed on each card in one line, and the cards that change a swing — one hand, feet together, hands swapped — tend to be the ones children like best. We’re still testing where the lower age limit sits, so use your judgement on younger players.
Will it slow us down?
No. Cards are played between shots you’re taking anyway, and nothing can be played once everyone has left the green. Six holes is the usual game, nine if you want carnage.
I don’t play golf. Is this a safe present?
Yes. It needs no equipment beyond the round they were already playing, works with any format, and doesn’t assume the person opening it is any good. If they play golf with other people, it’ll get used.
What if somebody plays a card on me?
You can accept it, block it if you’re holding the right card, or answer with a Caddie card after you’ve taken the shot. Only one card can target you at a time — no pile-ons.
Is it legal?
Absolutely not. That’s rather the point.
